I received the new issue of Chicago Magazine the other day. Even though I have not lived in Chicago since 1981, I still enjoy reading about what is happening there and looking at all the advertisements for pricey lakefront condos, fancy hotels, and the other trappings of the Chicago upper crust. Of course, the magazine has a North Side bias, and ignores the South Side entirely. When the "Best Pizza" issue came out, they completely ignored Vito and Nicks and Aurelio's, two of the greatest pizza parlors in the world and located on the South Side of Chicago. But I still like to read the articles and see what's new in my home town. And no, that is not the Chicago skyline in the background of the above photograph. It is, of course, the University of Denver campus, and the exact spot where DU wants to someday build a "gateway village," once they can get hold of somebody's money to finance the project. Good luck with that, guys.
