Last Monday was the deadline to return rental textbooks to the DU Bookstore, and after almost a week's grace period, we started charging students who did not return their rentals the replacement fee for those titles. It is not something we enjoy doing, but our wholesaler will be charging the Bookstore the same amount for the missing books. Unfortunately, a fair number of the credit card numbers we tried to charge were bad. That means I will have to pick up the Bookstore thugs - Marty and Doug - and start paying some nocturnal visits to make collections. Such is the dramatic life of a Bookstore employee.
