Farewell To Stuart - For Now...
My sister Susan and I are heading back to Denver after 9 weeks here in Stuart, Florida, where the weather has been perfect. It has been such a treat to hang out along the ocean and the St. Lucie and Indian Rivers that crisscross the area. South Florida has been plagued by a drought since the beginning of November, but while that is a bad thing, especially the threat of wildfires, it is definitely a plus if you want to get out every day and head to Stuart Beach, bike, or visit an outdoor patio along the water. I took the photograph above at the Pirate's Loft in Port Salerno, where we had dinner on the porch overlooking a marina and Manatee Pocket, which leads to where the St. Lucie and Indian Rivers meet and the ocean beyond. Starting in May, the weather begins to get hot and humid, and the rainy season begins. I have never been here in June when it does not rain 24/7, which will help very much with those drought conditions, but is not conductive to outdoor activities. Still, we hope to be back mid-summer when there is usually just one rainstorm in the afternoon, allowing beach time in the morning and a trip to an outdoor patio by the river in the late afternoon. Perfect! Can't wait to come back.
