The University of Denver Bookstore has a new competitor - the local Subway Sandwich Shop, believe it or not. The local Subway has teamed up with a used textbook company, and is buying back textbooks during finals week in direct competition with us. DU Today (Motto: We Still Have a Bookstore on Campus?) did a feature article on the Subway book buy, and felt it was a wonderful way for DU students to sell their their books and have lunch, too. They pay much less than we do, but I guess perception and publicity will always trump facts. In any case, we were considering having Subway cater the Bookstore Holiday Party - we spend many thousands of dollars on this - but now, forget it. Eat your heart out, Jared!
