Battle Mountain
I just finished reading Battle Mountain, the latest Joe Pickett novel by C.J. Box. This a continuation of Box's previous novel, Three-Inch Teeth, which ended with the murder of Liv Brannon, wife of Nate Romanowski, Joe's friend and sometimes crime-fighting partner. The killers were Dallas Cates and Alex Soledad, who were out for revenge against the two. Cates was killed, but Soledad escaped, and in Battle Mountain, Nate is off the grid hunting down Soledad. At the same time, Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett is called on by Wyoming's governor to find his son-in-law and the hunting guide he was working with, who have gone missing in the Sierra Madre Mountain range. It soon becomes clear that both of these missions are connected, and Joe and Nate wind up in a dramatic showdown with domestic terrorists led by Soledad. Battle Mountain was an exciting read, and I enjoyed it very much. I recommend you pick up a copy at your local library today. You don't have to have read Three-Inch Teeth first, but you probably should anyway.
