Today is the 4th of July, and in celebration of this, I am posting a photograph I took of the fireworks at Denver's Coors Field back in 2013. And as you can tell, I was not actually in the ballpark when I took that photo. By that time, I had decided I had been to enough fireworks games and would instead take photographs just across the street from the ballpark. As I recall, all the rooftop bars were jampacked with partiers waiting for the show to begin, music blasting from every direction. This year the fireworks at Coors Field will take place both tonight and tomorrow night, and once again I am skipping those games, even though the Rockies will be playing my old hometown South Side heroes, the Chicago White Sox. Now that I am a geezer, I plan on attending the Sunday afternoon game instead. It will be an exciting contest between the team that had the worst season record in the history of major league baseball last year - the White Sox - versus the team that is doing their best to break that record this year, the Colorado Rockies. Be there or be square, baseball fans!
