I headed to downtown Stuart, Florida yesterday morning for the simple reason that it is THE place to be on Sundays. Between visiting the Market on Main from 9:00 to 1:00, having breakfast or lunch on the many outdoor, often waterfront, patios, and attending Rock'n Riverwalk from 1:00 to 4:00, the area is packed with people, and it is almost impossible to find a parking spot. Long lines of cars drive through the parking lot at Flagler Park, hoping someone will pull out as they approach. Which finally happened to me right across the street from the Rock'n Riverfront stage. I walked around the market, located in Flagler Park along the St. Lucie River, checked out the action, such as it was, on Osceola Street (downtown's main street), and then walked along the waterfront boardwalk to see what band was playing on the Riverwalk Stage.
And to my surprise, it appeared to be the Rolling Stones. I understand they are all in their 90s now, but they all looked pretty good yesterday, nonetheless. I listened to them sing Jumping Jack Flash and Honky Tonk Women, and I must say, they had a large crowd listening to them, most of them the same as the Stones, as seen in the photograph on the right. And why were the Rolling Stones playing on the Riverwalk Stage in downtown Stuart, Florida yesterday afternoon? They probably all decided to retire here. Why should they be any different from everyone else? And by the way, I must add that the second favorite place to go on Sundays in Stuart is Stuart Beach. And to be honest, downtown and Stuart Beach are actually the only places to go in Stuart on Sundays. Which explains a lot.
