Valarie graduated from Metro State College this afternoon, after an intense year and a half of study. She was delayed in getting her degree by raising two children, operating an art gallery in Denver, and owning and operating Capitol Hill Books in Denver for over 20 years. Her daughter Cheyanne (on the left in the photograph above) threw Valarie (on the right) a surprise party at the Mercury Cafe, a wonderful refuge for the free spirits of Denver. There was a party for Valarie on the main floor, and then swing dancing on the second floor for the rest of the night. What a wonderful party, and what a wonderful mother and daughter. Congratulations again, Valarie! What a tremendous achievement.
