John, my friend and colleague at the DU Bookstore, was accepted this week into the Teacher's Residency Program at the University of Denver's Mortgridge College of Education, a major step in his quest to become a high school science teacher. I took a photograph of him to mark the occasion, but due to operator error, the first two photographs made it look like he had jaundice. I mentioned this to John, who remarked that jaundice was often suffered by sailors, pirates, and others taking long sea voyages without access to fresh fruits and vegetables. I imagine people taking Carnival cruises must often suffer from this too, but that is not the point! The point is that John is on his way to becoming a science teacher! Good going guy!
