Moose Hunting With Stuart

My friend Stuart and I drove up to Nederland, Colorado via Boulder Canyon this past Sunday afternoon to check out the town and to see if there might be any moose hanging out in the area that I could photograph.  We drove around the area a bit, but there were no moose to be seen.  In fact, the only moose we found was the wooden one Stuart is posing with at the entrance to a gift shop in Nederland called The Rustic Moose. It is just not the same.

After walking around Nederland for a bit (which does not take long, I might add), we headed back down to Boulder for dinner at a chicken restaurant and brew pub called The Post.   It was a lot hotter in Boulder than in Nederland, which sits at 8,000 feet, but we still were able to snag a nice table in the shade on the front patio, as can be seen in the photo on the right. This restaurant is just half a block from the Boulder Mall, which seemed pretty damn quiet for a holiday weekend. The Boulder Creek Hometown Festival was going on in a nearby park, which probably explained where a lot of the crowd was, and most of the rest were probably up in the mountains enjoying one of the last warm weekends of the summer.  And, of course, all of those University of Colorado students were probably at the library or in their dorm rooms studying their hearts out.
