Bay Of All Saints

I went downtown to the Denver Pavilions yesterday afternoon to see the documentary film "Bay of All Saints," which is being shown in conjunction with the Denver International Film Festival.  The film was directed, filmed and edited by Annie Eastman, a local documentary film maker. The film follows the lives of three families living in a stilt community over a bay in Bahia, Brazil.  Watching these people live in shacks over a garbage filled bay, constantly dealing with flooding, rats, and the daily struggle to survive definitely puts the mundane problems most of us face here in the United States into perspective.  It even makes me want to donate to the fund set up to help educate the children featured in this film, which is saying something, considering my status as Denver's biggest cheapskate.  A second showing of the film will take place Wednesday at the Denver Film Center on Colfax.  Catch it.
