Denver's 16th Street Mall - Still A Major Construction Zone

I took the photograph above of Denver's 16th Street Mall years ago, when it was at its busiest and best. These days, unfortunately, it is undergoing a major renovation, and much of it is fenced off. I have to admit it is not very inviting these days, and the businesses on it are struggling. It will take until the fall of next year for the project to be completed, and it will be difficult for many of the small businesses there to survive. When it is finished, the bus lanes will be in the center of the mall, and the sidewalks much wider, providing more space for pedestrians to stroll and restaurant patios to expand onto. If any restaurants survive, that is. And by the way, the Hard Rock Cafe, seen in the photo above on the left, is no longer there. Bummer.
